Sierra Leone News: 6 months jail term for physical abuse on a child

65 years old Jinah Bockarie Sama of Diema town Kandu Leppiama chiefdom in Kenema district has been sentenced to 6 months imprisonment or to pay a fine of one million Leone when he made his last appearance in the magistrate court in Kenema before the presiding magistrate Alhaji Sulaiman Koroma on the charge of physical abuse contrary to section 2 (1) (a) of the domestic violence Act no. 12 of 2007.
According to the prosecutor 13563 Fornah Zainab told the court that on 20th June 2016 at Diema town in Kandu Leppiama chiefdom in Kenema judicial district in the eastern province of the republic of Sierra Leone, subjected one Hawa Saffa aged 12 years to torture or other cruel inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, and was then found guilty of the offence.
In the same court room one Saidu Jusufu of Gombu layout in Kenema made his last appearance in the magistrate court in Kenema before the presiding magistrate Alhaji Sulaiman Koroma on the charge of larceny contrary to section 2 of the larceny Act 1916.
According to the prosecutor police constable 4654 Watta Bakarr told the court that on Wednesday 25th May 2016 along Semambu lane in Kenema Nongowa chiefdom Kenema district in the eastern province of the republic of Sierra Leone did steal four bales of plastic slippers valued one million and fifty thousand Leones entrusted to him to be taken to the lorry park being property of Matta Morie of Belebu section in Kailahun. The accused was found guilty and was sentenced to six month imprisonment
