At the Siaka Stevens Street Magistrate Court in Freetown on Monday 25 March 2019, Magistrate Hannah Bonnie sentenced Mohamed Porto Kamara, a teacher, to six months at the Correctional Centre for wounding and assaulting Kadiatu Sesay. According to Sesay, on 15th December 2018, at Newsite, Pentagon Lumley, she had a fight with the wife of the accused. The accused came to the scene and slapped her twice, he then pulled her clothes and wounded her under her belly. The accused denied the allegations stating he went to the scene and tried to separate the two women. Kamara was arrested and charged with Wounding and Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm. Three witnesses testified in the matter. The Magistrate said the accused should spend 90-days in prison for each charge. She added that the sentence should run concurrently.
