Police allege that on 4 March 2017, Manfred Cole sexually penetrated a 7-year old girl at Wellington in the East end part of Freetown. The accused was arraigned before Magistrate Binneh Kamara of Siaka Stevens Street, Magistrate Court No. 1, on 19 May 2017, to answer to one count of Sexual Penetration of a Child, contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act of 2012.
Testifying in Court, the victim said on 4 March 2017, after school lessons, she went home. She said on her arrival at home, she collected the door key from her aunty, Isatu Kamara and went inside her room and fell asleep. She said while she was sleeping, the accused, who stays in the same compound, took her quietly from her room to his bedroom.
She said, “The accused removed my clothes, pants and had sex with me. After the accused had finished, I saw white liquid running down my legs.”
She continued, “While I was still inside the accused room, Aunty Isatu Kamara caught us and explained the incident to my mother.” She said her mother and aunty accompanied her to the Congo Water Police Post where they reported the matter.
Magistrate Kamara asked the victim whether she saw blood on her private parts. The victim said she did not see blood. She disclosed that the accused has had sex with her before.
The Magistrate remanded the accused at the Male Correctional Centre and adjourned the case to the 1st June 2017.
