One hundred and twenty supporters of the All People’s Congress (APC) in Constituency 017, now Constituency 011, in Kenema District have defected to the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).
The defectors, dressed in SLPP tee-shirt with the portrait of Maada Bio, pronounced their new affiliation to the SLPP at the community centre in Blama, Small Bo Chiefdom during a special ceremony organised by the sitting MP Hon. Habib Bakar Munda.
The MP outlined 19 developmental projects he carried out in his Constituency and other projects funded by the government. The developmental projects included educational, agricultural and infrastructural projects.
The former Chair for APC in London section in Blama, Fattu Koroma, said she and her membership has been in the APC but not much has been done. They are looking to the SLPP for a brighter future for her Constituency.
Mohamed Fofanah, the veteran Chair for APC in Constituency 011 spoke on behalf of the APC Party confirmed that he knew the defectors but described their act as a true spirit of democracy as all are at liberty to belong to where he or she wants. He wished them well but told his audience that come 2018 the APC will be in power again.
