Sierra Leone News: 11 youth sentenced to pay Le1m fine for smoking cannabis sativa

Eleven young men pleaded guilty to smoking marijuana or cannabis sativa and have been sentenced to pay a fine of Le1 million each. On 3rd December 2018, along Wallace Johnson Street in Freetown, Jonathan Demby, Mustapha Y, Mohamed Lamin Sesay, Abdulai Bah, Mohamed Mansaray, Osman Conteh, Hassan Chernor Kanu, Alusine Sillah, John Y, Abdulai Bangura, and Julius Carew, were arrested and charged under Section 47(1) of the Pharmacy Drug Act. Magistrate Santigie Bangura of the Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1 on Siaka Stevens Street in Freetown passed sentence after the young men spent more than a month in custody.
