Commissioner Biobele Georgewill of the Commission of Inquiry, on Wednesday 7 August 2019, ordered the State lawyer to invite the management of the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology to clarify the over Le2 billion over-payment. While testifying in the Commission of Inquiry last week, the Internal Auditor in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Sia Lusanie, said over Le2.6 billion was paid to the University in 2016, as an over-payment while paying tuition fees for 1,200 students. Over Le22 billion was paid by the Government in two tranches to the university. For the first payment of 600 students, over Le122 million was over-paid. In the second 50% payment, over Le2.6 billion was detected as an over-payment by the auditors.

According to Commissioner Georgewill, “Limkokwing needs to come to the Commission and explain exactly what they did with such money and how such a process was done.” The Acting Principal Auditor in the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education, Donald Newman, informed the Commission that the Limkokwing over-payment is one of the issues they are currently struggling with under the scrutiny of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in Parliament. The State lawyer, Khadija Zainab Bangura, assured the Commissioner they will bring management of the Limkokwing before him.
