Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – Two key members of the Sierra Leone Football Association’s (SLFA) Media and Marketing Department, Ibrahim Kamara and Samuel Borbor Davies, successfully concluded a comprehensive 2-day Digital Marketing Skills training workshop at the FIFA Regional Headquarters in Kigali, Rwanda.
The workshop, held from December 18th to 19th, 2023, brought together two representatives from each of the following nations: Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mauritius, Gabon, Guinea, and the host country, Rwanda. The participants underwent training under the guidance of renowned Digital Marketing experts, Andrew Davies, a top digital marketing trainer in the UK, and Mounia Wanzi, a digital marketer at the Royal Belgian Football Association.
Covering various aspects of Digital Marketing, the training delved into areas such as Content Creation, Content Distribution, Promotion, and Fan Engagement, utilizing several trending marketing tools. The workshop marked the face-to-face segment of the ongoing FIFA Digital Marketing Skills online courses in collaboration with Coursera, aimed at enhancing the capacity of FIFA Member Association media globally, with a focus on content creation and digitalized fan engagement.
The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of notable figures, including Munyantwali Alphonse, President of the Rwandan Football Association, Solomon Mudege, FIFA Head of Development Programmes in Africa, Madam Ekta Hutton, FIFA Digital Skills Program Director, and Augustin Víllegas, Assistant Program Coordinator. Yvonne Namai Mukaban, CAF’s Project Manager of the African Schools Programme, also attended as a special guest trainee.
In her opening statement, Ekta Hutton commended all participants for their efforts in qualifying their respective associations among the top ten outstanding MAs in Africa, as demonstrated in the FIFA Digital Marketing Skills Online Courses. She described the workshop as “a journey towards embracing digital transformation,” emphasizing the importance of staying abreast of the digital landscape in football communications.
The successful completion of this training positions the SLFA’s Media and Marketing Department to contribute significantly to the digital evolution of football communication in Sierra Leone, leveraging the latest tools and strategies in the digital marketing realm. BT/22/12/2023
