Amidst much pomp and pageantry, Union Trust Bank, the only indigenously owned Sierra Leonean bank last Saturday 11th November continued its rapid expansion by opening up another Western Union outlet at NP Campbell Street.
Explaining to journalists the reason for this new outlet, the Manager of Western Union at the Union Trust Bank (UTB) Madam Agnes Mansaray said their first rule of business is to take the business closer to the customers so that they can give them the peace and safety they need.
“Customers living around this area do not have to go into town to collect their monies, they just have to stroll to NP filling Station and collect their money. This outlet opens from 9.00am to 9pm at night from Monday to Saturday, so even if the banks are closed they can still receive their monies.”
Ms Mansaray averred that this is the second outlet they are opening in an NP filling station after they did the first one few weeks ago at Regent. She said they have a very good relationship with NP and they are grateful that they have the opportunity to work with them as both institutions are Sierra Leonean owned and they have the same goal to bring satisfaction to their customers.
The Western Union Manager stressed that they will continue to look for more outlets that will be closer to communities because they want to make ‘pickup’ easier for people wherever they find themselves.
In Freetown alone she said they have 12 locations from Sanders Street, to Brookfields; from New England to Lumley; from Howe Street to Kissy Shell. She said they are all over the city making sure nobody would find it difficult to receive money from Western Union.
During the launch of the new outlet within 10 minutes four people arrived to receive money, and two of them were coming from Dworzark, which was a testimony of helping the people living around that community.
