Sierra FC has secured their second win on Thursday 25th March 2021 in the ongoing Western Area Football Association (WAFA) Division Two league played at the Kallon Playing Field at Angola when they defeated Markiana FC by two goals to one (2-1).
Sierra FC accounted for both goals in the first half of play with Samuel Kamara scoring a classic free kick that gave them the lead midway through the first half. It was Samuel Kamara’s second goal in two matches played so far.
Sierra FC made it two in the 35th minute of play from John Gindeh, for his first goal for the team.
In the second half of play it was a different ball game as their opponent raised their game, and pressured Sierra FC until the 70th minute of play when they got a consolation goal. After the goal Sierra FC captain, Morlai Armankey Kargbo was given a red card, and the pressure was now heavy on the team, who were able to contain their opponent.
Sierra FC defended very well to keep the score line that way until the final whistle. After the match, the Sierra FC goalkeeper was also red carded. For the match, Sierra FC received three red cards, two for players and one for coach Kassim who received a red card in the first half of play.
At the end of the match, the club’s Chief Executive Officer Ibrahim Conteh said though they won the match, he was disappointed by the referee’s decision which he said “is not good for the game.”
The Technical Director and Coach Sam Ngobeh said winning their first two matches was very good for the team and called on the boys to remain focused and prepare well for the next match that will be played at the same venue on 2nd April 2021.
