The just concluded activities to mark the 49th Independence day celebrations in Nairobi has motivated the organizers of the annual tripartite federation international sports day that would be held in September have extended a hearty invitation to Sierra Leone to join the competition.
This invitation was disclosed by the Chairman of the Zambian community in Kenya Mr. Denis Mwanza following the friendly international encounter between his country and Sierra Leone over the weekend.
Mr. Mwanza explained that the three participating countries in this international sports competition include Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi and they have resolved to include Sierra Leone because of their friendly ties with other countries in the East and Southern Africa, which they have demonstrated by organizing football competitions.
The Zambia envoy pledged their total commitment in sustaining the Sierra Leone Zambia relationship and is optimistic that Sierra Leone’s participation will enhance their friendly ties with the other countries.
The tripartite federation sports day embraces various sporting activities including, athletics, soccer, volleyball, basketball, etc. for both men and women. It is not clear so far which of the other sporting activities apart from football that Sierra Leone will participate in this competition.
Meanwhile, the football match between Sierra Leoneans and Zambians in Kenya ended up in a 2-2 draw after the final whistle.
