The much talked about Sembia’s gala, for eight communities, has started at the St Thomas playing field at the Grey Bush, with former minister in the last APC government, J E Laverse took the kickoff.
Before the match started proper there was a female comic match and the actually match of the day was between Ascension Town and Congo Valley which was a win for the former who defeated their opponents by four goals to one.
In the first half, Ascension Town were leading by three goals to nil 3-0. During the second half, Congo Valley came well composed and focused, and midway in the second half reduced the score line to 3-1. Some minutes later, Abdul Kamara of Ascension Town increased the score line to 4-1.
One of the organizers, Coach Hassan Turay, said during the first day it was very impressive as there was no violence as fans abided by the rules and regulations governing the Sembia’s gala.
The gala continues today in the semi final stage.
