The Provincial Security Coordinating Committee (PROSEC) east has described the suspension of the Town Speaker of Tissor Village in the Nongowa Chiefdom as a security concern that needs to be resolved immediately before it degenerates into “any further unfortunate situation”.
Addressing media practitioners and other stakeholders during a press conference at the provincial secretary’s office along Maxwell Khobe Street, Kenema, the Provincial Secretary East, Mohamed Sheik Kargbo, disclosed that they are concerned with the appointment of former Hon. Bockarie Salami as Caretaker Chief of Tissor without due consultation, saying that the 2011 Chieftaincy Act states that a Caretaker Chief can only be appointed during the fortieth day ceremony of a deceased chief, and not on the seventh day funeral ceremony.
He said PROSEC has resolved to enforce all recommendations agreed upon during a stakeholders meeting to amicably resolve the Tissor Village issue. Speaking to Paramount Chief of Nongowa Chiefdom, PC Mahmoud Sadiq Kapuwa Mattoe at his office about Tissor, he denied any wrong doing appointing a Caretaker Chief, saying that his decision to appoint former Hon. Salami as Caretaker Chief of Tissor is legitimate and he will not reverse his decision.
