The section chief of Kwallay section in Tungie in the Gorama mende chiefdom in the Kenema district Daniel Sarmu has been suspended.This was disclosed by the Paramount Chief Haja Marian Gassama during a visit to Kenema city.
Reports from the chiefdom explained that the Paramount Chief summoned the said chief to a meeting and he refused to attend.
He later wrote a letter to the Paramount Chief that he has a society case with her.Speaking to the media in Kenema the Paramount Chief Haja Marian Gassama IV disclosed that the section chief was suspended last month for what she described as insubordination and incitement of some chiefdom authorities against her authority. She explained that when she took over as Paramount Chief of the chiefdom the said chief was suspended and for over seven years, and because of peace in the chiefdom she brought him into her administration not knowing that he is going to undermine her. The Paramount Chief was a supporter of the former SLPP government and the suspended section chief was a supporter of the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) but she maintained that the suspension was not politically motivated.He described Gorama Mende as one of the richest chiefdom in the Kenema district in terms of mineral resources and she therefore called on all to put aside their political differences and work toward development of the chiefdom and the nation as a whole. She maintained that as Paramount Chief she will work with the government of the day.
