The Publicity Secretary of the opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) Ibrahim El-Tayyib Bah has demanded that the Minister of Transport and Aviation and his deputy be sacked immediately.
The SLPP’s Publicity Secretary made this demand in the wake of the sea disaster where a passenger boat capsized last Tuesday presumably killing over 200 people, including school children.
El-Tayyib Bah claimed that it seemed both the Minister and his deputy were insensitive to the incident as he stated that since the accident occurred, there has been conflicting stories and reports of it.
He also claimed that negligence, and lack of monitoring by the Ministry of Transport and Aviation caused the fatal sea accident.
The last sea accident that occurred, he mentained claimed the lives of over 100 people.
He also made reference to Dr. Prince Harding, a former Transport Minister under the SLPP government who was asked by the former President Kabbah to step down after an helicopter crashed at Lungi International Airport killing some Togolese officials.
El-Tayyib Bah also wondered why the APC government was pre-occupied with reacting to the statements made by the SLPP chairman that the APC government was tribalistic and regionalistic, rather than concentrating on those poor 200 or so Sierra Leoneans who have lost their lives.
