The Sierra Leone Scouts Association held its Annual General Meeting at the National Fire Force Conference Hall on 11th July, 2009, to discuss matters relating to the progress of the association, and conducted elections for vacant Executive positions. The President of the Association Hon. Nicolas C. Browne – Marke was unopposed and duly elected President. Before the meeting commenced, members of the Scout’s Council expressed their dissatisfaction on issues ranging from misinformation and petitions that were never looked into. The President Hon Justice Nicolas Brown-Marke said during the amendment of the 2004 Constitution, most of the members were not present taking it as a pointer to the fact that Council members have not been treating the affairs of the Association with the attention it deserves. But this was noisily revoked by some Council members who claimed to have been contributing effectively on issues pertinent to the well being of the Association. In his inaugural speech he said he will ensure efficiency and accountability and improve the welfare of the Association. He also stated that during his last tenure of office he facilitated an increment in the membership list and further sponsored programmes to send scouts to Japan, Korea and The Gambia respectively.
