Schools in Kailahun District have turned down a huge quantity of school uniforms donated to them by the Ministry of Education Science & Technology through the SABABU Education project.
According to sources close to the Inspectorate of Education in Kailahun, some schools rejected the uniforms as a result of either non-school colour or incorrect measurement and sizes.
The contract was said to have been awarded to non-indigenes by the SABABU Education project in Freetown to provide uniforms for the various junior schools in Kailahun and it is being alleged that the contractor never bothered to go around schools in the township to get the fitting measurement of the pupils nor did he get the appropriate school colours.
With the exception of the Methodist Secondary School Kailahun, Principal A.K. Amara who has accepted it, other schools like the National Secondary Kailahun, Kissi Bendo Secondary School Koindu, Kissi Tongi Secondary School, Buedu and the Vocational Secondary School in Pendembu have rejected the uniforms.
