Schools reopened yesterday on a very low key scale as most pupils were basking on the rumours that the reopening has been shifted to October 6.
Despite the rumours, some pupils turned up at schools, but the presence of teachers were limited, as some of them were toying the idea of the pupils.
Confirming the reopening of schools, a senior educationist debunked the rumours terming it as baseless and without foundation.
However, Awoko learnt from some pupils that indeed school did reopen with very little work as it usual with the first day at school.
It was further learnt that school authorities are rather unpleased over the non-payment of school subsidy for at least three terms and they were anticipating that government would have settled that aspect before the reopening of schools.
The source at the ministry further revealed that the subsidy aspect is of serious concern to government, and efforts are being made to settle that aspect soonest, even as the recent verification exercise continued to expose a lot of flaws in the country.
