Freetown SIERRA LEONE – In a generous move to support the upcoming ‘Say No To Drugs’ Tournament at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre, the CEO of Barrie Help Foundation and Chairman of the ‘Say No To Drugs Campaign,’ Mamadu Bobor Barrie, presented football equipment and cash on Saturday, November 25, 2023.
The donation, made on behalf of CEO Abu Bakar Sillah, popularly known as Ivorian Sillas, included five footballs, cones, two football nets, various sets of bibs, banners, dozens of t-shirts, and cash for refreshments during the tournament. The initiative aims to engage inmates in a sports event designed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug use.
Chairman Barrie expressed that upon receiving a letter seeking assistance for the ‘Say No To Drugs’ tournament from the Correctional Centre Sports Committee, he and his partner, Capay Ivorian Sillas, saw an opportunity to extend the campaign’s impact to the incarcerated population undergoing reformation.
During the presentation ceremony, Foday Ismail Kamara, the Officer-In-Charge at the Sierra Leone Correctional Center, expressed gratitude to Chairman Bobor Barrie for the significant gesture. He assured that the provided equipment would be utilized for the intended purpose, contributing to the success of the ‘Say No To Drugs’ Tournament scheduled to take place from November 27 to December 2, 2023.
