Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Finance, Mohammed Aljadaan, has been appointed as the new Chair of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC), serving a three-year term starting from January 4, 2024.
The IMFC, the policy advisory body of the IMF Board of Governors, is composed of finance ministers and central bank governors who deliberate on key policy issues confronting the International Monetary Fund.

On the international stage, Minister Aljadaan is involved in various capacities, serving on the Ministerial Council of the OPEC Fund for International Development, the Boards of Governors of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank, the Board of Governors of the Arab Monetary Fund, the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank, and the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
Additionally, he leads Saudi Arabia’s delegation to the meetings of G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors, and holds positions on the Board of Directors of the Saudi Public Investment Fund and the Board of Directors of Saudi Aramco.
Minister Aljadaan previously chaired the G20 Finance Track during the Saudi G20 Presidency in 2020, navigating the challenges of an unprecedented global environment.
His appointment as IMFC Chair signifies Saudi Arabia’s continued commitment to international financial cooperation and leadership on the global economic stage. The financial community looks forward to the insights and guidance Minister Aljadaan will provide during his tenure. ZIJ/28/12/2023
