The Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Environmental Health Unit in collaboration with the Kenema District Council (KDC) have embarked on a Sanitation drive in all sixteen Chiefdom Headquarter Towns in the Kenema District.
The sanitation drive project is targeting the Freetown Western Rural District and Kenema District as a pilot phase.
The Kenema District Health Superintendent Olai Sankoh informed the people of Ngiema Town, the Headquarter Town of Dama Chiefdom, that the Kenema District Council has provided working tools such as shovels, wheelbarrows, rakes pickaxes and brooms for them to actively undertake sanitation exercises in all Chiefdom Headquarter Towns in the District.
He urged the people of Ngiema Town to always keep their environment clean and disease free.
Sankoh commended the people of Ngiema Dama for their active participation in the sanitation drive and called for their continued support and cooperation at all times. He disclosed that the purpose of the sanitation drive is to ensure that the District is free from disease, as ‘health is wealth’.
