Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) Friday opened bid documents for a water project in Kabala amounting to $4.45m which is a grant from BADEA.
Explaining the processes leading to the opening of the bid documents, the Director General of SALWACO, P.K Lansana said the grant was for the rehabilitation of water supply in Kabala as they have fulfilled all the conditions for the first phase of the project.
He stated that after the consultants might have identified the project area and design, work would commence for the identification of the contractor.
He disclosed that seven consultants sent in their bids as against the two who earlier responded but were not qualified.
When the bidding was re-launched, he said seven applied but three consulting firms, Sijodi Mara Martin and Concept, ECG Engineering and Shora Consultants and Co made it for the final selection.
Mr Lansana however said only the financial proposals sent in by bidders will be considered as only those who qualified from the technical stage will be informed.He assured all that the processes leading to the financial stage will be speedily looked in to and the bid winner consulted immediately to commence work.
