The Salvation Army School System covering the Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia Command has launched an educational eLearning or online learning app for its students. The app, called Weeglo Inc, will make learning easier for students of the Salvation Army School System. Salvation Army Lt. Colonel Mkami on Tuesday 18th August 2020 at the launch of the app in Monrovia, Liberia disclosed that the discussion to have the electronic learning facilities for students started back in 2018 when he was appointed as head of mission of the Salvation Army Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea Command. He challenged students, teachers, and parents to use the website always – whether they are sitting at home, walking along the road, or in school. He added that it will boost their learning and teaching capacities.

The website, he added, is intended to promote the reading abilities of students in Liberia, as reading is the bedrock of a child’s educational development. He noted that studies have shown that Africans do not read as compared to people from other continents, and it was about time to change that. Also speaking, the Director of the Salvation Army School System, David Massaquoi, revealed that the app is built in a special way that enables students to access their lessons without using data, making it less expensive to use.

Downloaded from the Google Play Store, there is no need to be connected to the internet to access notes, past questions from the West African Examination Council and other related materials. He said the school system is planning to equip the app with free library and other learning materials that will enable students to get all the materials needed to improve their learning. The Principal of William Booth High School, Mr. Siapha Crawford, on behalf of the principals of the Salvation Army School System, lauded the leaders of the Salvation Army Liberia Command for making learning easier for its students.
