Customers of the Salpost Savings Bank are angry with the bank for their monies deposited at the bank since it was shut down without prior notice last year.
According to one of the aggrieved customers, Kpandei Tucker who stormed our office yesterday morning, he deposited his money on a savings account since November 2003 with account number 10-10954, but since the closure of the bank, all efforts were been made to transact business but proved futile, which had caused him serious embarrassment. Mr Tucker added that, “the Salpost Savings Bank is a government parastatal and it was in that vain that I opened an account together with a relative and deposited huge monies with the intent that they will be withdrawn at any time.” He however disclosed that, “it is frustrating and disheartening for a reputable bank to be involved in a criminal and fraudulent activity in this country.” Mr Tucker disclosed about his plans to take legal action against the government through the Ombudsman and LAWCLA.
