A Five-man Wrestling Team has departed the shores of Freetown on Tuesday 18th November 2008, for Togo to represent Sierra Leone in the World Championship for Belt and Traditional Wrestling.
The delegation comprises of three wrestlers; Abu Bakarr Barrie, Abdulai Rogers and Amara Koroma.
Serving as Coach is Abu Bakarr Kamara (Sidi Bambay) with President Prince Vandy Swaray as Leader of the delegation.
The Secretary of the Association, Michael Mustapha, disclosed to Awoko Sports that this the first time Sierra Leone is participating in such competition; and that they are delighted over the opportunity granted to the athletes as it would expose them in the international scene.
He disclosed that on their return next Tuesday, they would embark on a month training for Administrators, Coaches and Wrestlers, which would be under the supervision of an expert from Bulgaria, who is due in next Sunday.
He also revealed that the Association would also be organizing its first ever national beach competition on December 26th at the Number 2 River Beach.
