The Sierra Leone U-17 Cricket Team would today engage their Malian counterpart in their first match in the first edition of the ICC-Africa North-West Africa Regional tournament.
On the same day, the host country Nigeria would engage Cameroon as they are in group A with the Gambia.
Six countries would participate in the competition and they have been divided into two groups, with three countries each.
During the tournament the group matches would be on a round –robin basis and the best two teams from each group would proceed into the semi-finals with the winners of the two semi-finals matches engaging in the final; while the two losers would engage each other in the third place play off.
The Sierra Leone delegation is expected to depart the shores of Freetown over the weekend, with three players and the Coach, Alie John Kamara.
The players are Ibrahim Kabia, Captain; Julius Quee, Ibrahim Mansaray, Issa James, Mohamed Alie Bangura, Edward Marrah, Balowa Mansaray, Edward Senesie, Adolphus Massaquoi, Brima Ansumana, Moses Williams, Onesimus Bull and Emmanuel Pessima.
According to the Public Relations Officer, Bockarie Alieu, the President of the Association, Beresford Bounce –Coker who was supposed to lead the delegation to Nigeria would join the team later on Tuesday as he has other pressing matters to attend to.
