The Sierra Leone U-13 cricket team that is representing the country in Ghana in the U-13 cricket competition sponsored by the International Cricket Council (ICC) has won their second match in a row when they whitewashed their Nigerian counterpart by 124 runs.
During the match the Sierra Leone U-13 was the first to take the crease, making 163 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs
When their opponent the Nigeria U-13 took the crease they replied with 39 runs all out for 13 overs. In the other match Cameroon who had lost to Ghana came very strong to defeat the Gambian U-13 side. Gambia had won their first two matches by 5 runs.
When the Cameroon side started the batting they made 47 runs all out for 18 overs and Gambia replied with 38 all out.
Speaking to Awoko Sports after the team’s victory Allieu Bockarie said the Sierra Leone players dominated the match in every department and they were now ready and determined to bring the trophy home.
He describe the team winning as the motivation the players receive from Coach Ibrahim Sesay who over the past days have been explaining to the boys the importance of the competitions
The Sierra Leone side will play their last match against Cameroon on Saturday and in today’s match Gambia will battle it out with Ghana.
