Sierra Leone will be making history in the entertainment world as the country prepares to host the highly celebrated and intriguing Miss ECOWAS Peace Pageant 2010 with the theme “Peace and Development”.
The peace pageant will be held on the 24th October in Freetown and delegates from 15 ECOWAS Countries are expected to witness this all important African show. Speaking to the media yesterday at a press conference, Chief Executive Officer of Transnational (S.L) Limited Adonis Aboud, who happens to be the chief organizer of this year’s Miss ECOWAS Peace Pageant, disclosed that the ECOWAS Commission decided to give hosting right to Transnational S.L Limited and Sierra Leone as the destination because of the re-branding effort of the current government and their success in consolidating peace.
“By hosting the event in Freetown, we are sending a clear and unambiguous message to the world that Sierra Leone is enjoying peace, prosperity and goodwill and is a great destination for tourism and investment” Adonis Aboud stated.
He went on to disclose that the ECOWAS Commission will provide part of the funding for the event while the local organizing team will be lobbying around private businesses and government to support this all important event for the very first time in the history of Sierra Leone.
Ajaia Bomah, who is also part of the organizing team, explained that each participating country will be represented by two participants, and further disclosed that Sierra Leoneans in the Diaspora that are interested in participating in the event will be given the opportunity.
Transnational will host the local Miss ECOWAS pageant to determine who represent Sierra Leone in this year’s event.
