Sierra Leone would have a National Television shortly to cover the entire country with a daily five-hour satellite broadcast, the Minister of Information and Communication, Alhaji Ibrahim Ben Kargbo has disclosed in Bo.
Speaking recently at the Open Government Initiative (OGI) forum, which took place at Bo. City Hall, Alhaji Kargbo told the huge crowd that he is determined to improve the Information and Communication sectors in the country. He said that seven engineers, together with the equipments for setting up the National Television, which is expected to be operational by next June, have arrived in the country last week.
Unlike the past government that had vainly focused on establishing regional televisions, the Information and Communication Minister revealed that on assuming office, he embarked on an ambitious nation-wide TV plan that would soon be realized.
Alhaji I.B. Kargbo informed the people that in pursuant of the President’s campaign pledge to modernize Sierra Leone’s Information and Communication systems, the setting up of the E-government is well underway.
The E-government, he explained, is vastly advantageous in accessing public information and facilitating circulation of correspondences between government institutions.
He also praised the revitalized SIERRATEL, which would soon launch its new telephone system know as the Code Division Multiple Access {CDMA} that has facilities for the use of cordless phones and internet  services, among others
