The clerk of Parliament, Mohamed Kemokai yesterday announced that the Sierra Leone Parliament have replaced three Parliamentarians at the ECOWAS Parliament.
The replacement came after three former Parliamentarians; AOD George of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Dr Fatmata Hassan -SLPP, lost their seats in the parliamentary elections whilst the third has become the president of Sierra Leone Ernest Bai Koroma and as a result rendering his seat at the ECOWAS Parliamentr vacant.
The three new Members of Parliament voted by Parliamentarians for the vacant seats at the ECOWAS Parliament were Victoria Saidu of All People’s Congress (APC), Ibrahim Sorie- APC and the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change Majority Leader Thomas I. Mansaray.
The three new MPs have topped Sierra Leone’s representation at the ECOWAS Parliament to five, the two others being Dr Brima Kamanda of SLPP and Paramount Chief Brima Kebbie retained their seats.
The clerk of Parliament said the three new ECOWAS MPs will be sworn to office during the plenary session in Abuja in May. The Ecowas Parliament sits in May and September whilst other committees sit regularly.
