The report card of the 30 Sierra Leonean referees that took part in the five days high level World Governing Football Body (FIFA) Refereeing course is out.
The report card of these referees was release by the international instructors who conducted the course with only 9 referees were able to pass the Physical test. And out of the 11 FIFA Referees only two of them were able to be among those that passed the test
Those who pass the test were Edward Billy Parkinson, Michael A P Koroma, Anabi Y Kamara, Billy Konneh, Gibson Giama, Festus Lamin, Abdul Karim Musa, Raymond Caulker and Abdul Karim Kabia.
During the closing ceremony one of the instructors Joseph Lamptey Wellington from Ghana said that some of these referees have to give way to the younger ones as there time is now reaches to leave so that the younger ones may take over from them.
He went further to appealed to the media to give chance to the referees to do their work and allowed them to grow not to put them down with your pens
The acting President of the Sierra Leone Football Association Joseph Keifala said that in football referees has a very important role to play that is why FIFA organized such courses for referees
He also mentioned that he his expecting those referees that have taken part in the course will now climb a higher in officiating matches. And he also stated that he will be very happy if the Sectariariat can arrange courses for female referees in the country.
The Chairman of the programmed Alhaji Alim Sesay who is also the chairman for the West Area Football Association(WAFA) said that fitness is very important for Referees has they need to be here the ball at all times and this time around they want to have referee with integrity if the game is to developed
He also disclosed that as an association they are not going to allow referees to be in match fixing and any referee caught in that will be disciplined.
