The Chairman of the Sierra Leone Premier League Board, Rodney Michael has told Awoko Sports that the long awaited Premier League is expected to start on February 26th with 14 Premier League teams fighting for the championship.
He said they are doing everything possible to make sure that the League starts on that particular date and they will ensure that they have an effective and transparent National League so that any club that emerges as winner deserves it.
The Chairman also said this year’s League will be one round instead of two rounds because it will start late and end in June this year.
The League is expected to be played in five different venues, Bo, Kenema, Kono, Makeni and the National Stadium.
Rodney also stated that several business institutions have expressed their interest to support this year’s League and they are going to finalize the agreement with them.
Out of the 14 Premier League clubs only 4 have registered so far and the Board has given the other clubs up till February 11th to register.
The League is expected to start at the Makeni Town Field after the opening ceremony of the artificial turf by President Koroma.
