If the Sierra Leone delegation to this year’s All African Games in Maputo, Mozambique is to participate in the games, Sierra Leone government needs to pay U$ 264,100 before the 25th of this month, which is going to be the 3rd final Delegation Registration Meeting (DRM) of Chefs de Mission in Maputo.
Any country that fails to pay arrears owned to the Supreme Council of Sports in Africa, will not participate in the games.
According to reliable information gathered by this press, this particular amount covers payment of arrears to the Supreme Council of Sports ,participation fee, payment of air tickets for the Sierra Leone delegation, allowances and host of other things.
It has also been revealed that about 9 sporting disciplines are expected to represent this country at the games, and that this is the first time for 9 disciplines to represent Sierra Leone in a major international competition like the All African Games.
That is why the 9 sporting disciplines what to make use of this opportunity given to them for their athletes to show case their talents during the games
The associations are therefore appealing to the Minister of Youth Employment and Sports, Paul Kamara, to come to their aid to make sure that the country is represented at the games, as four years ago, the country was unable to participate in the games in Algeria because of huge debt that was owed to the Supreme Council of Sports in Africa by the Sierra Leone Government.
