The National Cricket team who was in 12th position in Africa before the World cricket division two competitions in South Africa has now moved to 10th position in Africa.
The ranking of Sierra Leone came as a result after the just concluded World Division II cricket competition in South Africa where they came fourth out of the six countries that participated in the competition.
This particular ranking have qualified Sierra Leone to participate in Africa Premier League (APL) competition in South Africa next year which is just like the just concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) And during the competition countries like South Africa will qualify automatically alongside Kenya, Zimbabwe while other countries like Zambia, Ghana Nigeria, Sierra Leone and host of others have to go through the qualifying rounds for the two places
The President of the association Beresford Coker said that can only be achieved if they are going to have advance training. He said he has appealed to Casim Suleiman for him to assist the country with a bowling machine.
He said that he has also requested for two weeks advance training in South Africa before the competition starts proper.
Beresford further stated that if Sierra Leone failed to attend advance training it will be a serious problem as they have learn their lesson from the just concluded world cricket competition+ in South Africa. He said that they went to South Africa with two objectives to win the trophy and qualify for the APL competition, they achieved one, which is not a bad result for the country.
