Sierra Leone’s National Kabaddi team will depart today Friday November 30th 2012 for India for their competition slated 1-15 December 2012.
According to the Head coach Sonny Johnson this will be their first international outing since the sport was introduced and launched in the country in June 2012.
Kenya and Sierra Leone are the two African countries that will battle in this year’s tournament as they will face the likes of England, Afghanistan, Denmark, Canada, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Norway, Pakistan, Scotland, Argentina, Italy, Iran, and USA – who have all given their consent to participate in the competition.
“This is a new sport that was introduced in the country by Indian nationals and since then we have benefited a lot from advanced trainings. So we are going to the World Cup Kabaddi with some knowledge and we hope to gain more experience from it.”
The delegation which will be headed by the president Ravindar Singh Jassal will also include Rafeek Thekkit Secretary General of the Association and head coach Sonny Johnson will depart the country on 30th November, 2012 by Kenya Airways.
