The Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Appointment and the Public Service after due process and scrutiny, yesterday submitted Madam Kadijatu Bashir in the well of Parliament for approval as Ambassador designate to the Republic of Senegal.
Madam Kadijatu Bashir was lauded for her high acumen and administrative competence in positions she had served prior to her appointment by His Excellency the President, and optimistic that she will replicate those skills to lure investors in the country.
In speeches of recommendation for Kadijatu Bashir’s appointment, Members of Parliament on the two sides of the House applauded the move made by the President since awarding women positions of trust that will help achieve the 30% quota they are agitating for in governance.
The Majority Leader, S.B.B. Dumbuya, said that the appointment will be partially geared towards disproving the idea that “a woman’s place is better in the Kitchen than in the office”. He also greatly recommended Madam Bashir for the appointment, considering her prudent management techniques and ability to steer the ambassadorial ship to a successful shore.
Madam Bashir in her remarks said that she is ready and prepared to build on foundations that have been created which are deemed necessary to ensure development in the country. She said that the confidence reposed on her by the President and the people of Sierra Leone will not be watered down as she is poised to dig out opportunities that would create better condition for the country and its people.
