The Head of Chancery of the Sierra Leone Embassy in Conakry, Guinea, Mr Victor Sherriff , has disclosed to Awoko that the Sierra Leone Embassy plans to celebrate the country’s 50th independence anniversary in grand style with its citizens and members of the Consular Corps.
He made this disclosure when Awoko Reporter Bernard Turay paid a visit to the Embassy. According to Mr. Sherriff, they have set up a National Planning Committee together with the Sierra Leoneans Union in the country, and that they are currently working on programmees which will soon be released.
“It is really going to be a joyful celebration of our 50th Independence Anniversary in Guinea. We shall be having schools in a march-past, cultural display and others so that Sierra Leoneans in Guinea will feel at home once more.
He further disclosed that the upcoming celebration will to a very large extent unite Sierra Leoneans not only in Conakry, but the entire Guinea, noting that the National Planning Committee has been meeting with Sierra Leoneans in all the five areas in Guinea.
He assured the Awoko Reporter that the Sierra Leone Embassy in Conakry has a cordial relationship with other members of the Diplomatic Corps, especially countries that are accredited to Sierra Leone.
“He stated that they have ties with other countries like Morocco, Algeria, France, Spain, Brazil and Malaysia”.
