The Sierra Leone National Cycling Team has returned from Burkina Faso after participating in this year’s 22nd tour de Faso.
Speaking to Awoko Sports about the trip, the President of the Association, Winston Crowther said that he was impressed with the standard of the Sierra Leone Cyclists during the tour, which was a big surprise to him.
He mentioned that during the first three days of the tour the Cyclists were unable to perform as expected as they were suffering from fatigue; since they traveled for four days on road to Burkina Faso to participate in the competition.
He stressed that if the Cyclists have the necessary support from Government and private companies they would create serious impact in international competitions.
He maintained that this tour would also serve as training for the Sierra Leone Cyclists as they would be traveling to Guinea for the third edition of the ECOWAS Peace Cycling tour for Mano River Union Countries; a competition they have won for two consecutive years in Freetown and Liberia.
He expressed gratitude to government for the assistance given to the Association, even though in a very short notice they were able to come on board and assist the Association to make the trip a reality.
