The Minister of Education, Science and Technology Minkailu Bah has on Friday, January 13th 2012 inspected a portion of land provided by the local chiefs and people of Malen Chiefdom in the Pujehun District designated for the construction of a modern technical institute.
The institute when constructed is expected to provide professional training for middle level man power in that part of the country as well as enhance their employment.
Speaking at the special ceremony held at Sahn, the Chiefdom headquarter, Minister Bah praised the indigenes for their support to the project and assured that funds for the project are already at hand.
He particularly praised the Paramount Chief, Hon B.V.S. Kebbie for being development oriented and expressed hope that with the institute on and running, it will serve as supplier of professional middle man power staff to the newly established Socfin Agricultural Company for example, thereby improving the income generation level of the chiefdom.
He notes that the country needs more of middle man power empowerment to feed into foreign companies many of whom are currently facing that challenge now, and are compelled to hire foreign expertise much to the disadvantage of indigenous Sierra Leoneans.
The Minister assured the people of government’s fullest support in their efforts to fight poverty and unemployment. He encouraged them to continue supporting government’s agenda for change as it is the road map of the APC administration to extricate the country from its decadent state.
Director of education, Umaru Sesay reinstated the assurance that the project will start soon and encouraged the people not to relent in their support and cooperation with the project implementers.
Welcoming the entourage, Chiefdom Speaker, S.R. Moiguah lauded the good works done by the APC Government for encouraging the Socfin Agricultural investment and called on the people to support the government’s agenda for change programmes.

Hon PC Kebbie disclosed that the Socfin Agricultural Company has approved the sum of US$ 75, 000 (seventy five thousand Dollars) for the chiefdom’s development fund. He also disclosed plans of the company to rehabilitate a number of roads in the chiefdom including the Koribondo/Jimmi Bargbo Highway to Sahn Malen via Pujehun, the Bandajuma Sowa to Pujehun road as part of the company’s social corporate responsibility.
The Chief also disclosed plans by the Socfin Agricultural Company to extend its electricity facility to the chiefdom headquarter of Sahn very soon.
