This year’s Sierra Rutile-sponsored Squash tourney, that attracted hundreds of squash fans from all parts of the country, ended on Saturday, July 16 at the Aqua Sports Club in Murray Town.
The tournament was organized by the National Squash Racquet Association for its players to bring back the game to the lime light after being in the wilderness for years.
According to the association, during the tournament which it described as “impressive and exciting,” many new talents were discovered.
The President of National Squash Racquet Association, Umaru Kakay, said that they are grateful to the sponsors, Sierra Rutile Company, “for enabling us to achieve our aims and objectives.”
He hoped that the partnerships will continue for the good of the game, as they have plans to revive the sport also in the provinces.
During the week-long tournament, 12 year-old Sillah Kargbo won the U-14 finals after Joseph Sellenga, Ernest Jombla won the U-23 competition, while retired Colonel Sinah won the veteran two categories.
Presentation of trophies, medals and certificates climaxed the event.
