44 year old Rtd. Lt. Col. Fatorma Sannoh Gottor has on Friday 29th June 2007 declared his support and loyalty for the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC). This disclosure was made at a special ceremony held at the PMDC regional office at 16 Dama road in Kenema.
Rtd. Lt. Col Gottor is one of the stakeholders in Kenema and he is a member of a land owing family in Nongowa chiefdom Kenema district.
Addressing his audience, he says he served 20 years in the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF). He explained how 77 Army officers in his group including two brigadiers were sent on compulsory retirement for no good reason on 31st January 2006 without reaching their retirement age.
“Now that I am out of the Army, I’m at liberty to openly belong to a party” he said.
Explaining why he did not join the ruling party he says, he sees no reason to support the old party in which ever way, because they will go back to the old system if they come back to power by continuing to fail the nation.
He further stated that he believes that PMDC as a new party will deliver the goods by bringing in positive changes for all.
He called on his brothers and sister who are in the other parties to come over to PMDC for positive change.
PMDC will put new wine into new bottle instead of old wine into new bottles he said.
In his response the regional Chairman of PMDC Alhaji Benson Suwu thanked Rtd. Lt. Col. Gottor for his brilliant decision and welcomed him to the party.
He appealed to their membership to be violence free during the electioneering process and to continue to report to the police whatever problem comes their way in terms of violence.
PMDC stands for every body he said and therefore called on his supporters to bring in more members into the party.
