Commissioner for the ACC, Abdul Tejan Cole has told Awoko that, the commission is not investigating the Acting Executive Director for the Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority, Sarah Bendu for corrupt practice but instead on some mistakes that were made in the procurement of vehicles.
Recently, a local tabloid reported that, the Acting Executive Director was under ACC investigation for corruption, but the ACC boss said, the commission is investigating mistakes made in the procurement of vehicles by the SLRTA and that as a commission, they are taking time to carry out a thorough investigation.
Cole said, the policy of the commission is not to be coming out with statements whilst investigations are ongoing since they would not want to destroy the reputation of a person, and stated that Sierra Leoneans must allow the commission to do its work perfectly. Cole said, it is only when the commission would have finished investigating any matter and the evidence gathered that they should be expected to come out and make comment on such investigation or to issue a news release.Meanwhile, the SLRTA yesterday commenced a vehicle survey in the country, in an effort to know the total amount of vehicle population in the country. This according to the Acting Executive Director is in line with her focus in seeing an effective operation within the Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority. The survey is a nationwide one.
