The Rotary club of Freetown –District 9100 on Sunday May 31st, visited the King Georges Old peoples at Kissy to share a meal and fellowship with the residents.
The Rotary Club was established in 1905 in the United States of America by Paul Harris to support less privileged members of society. Since then the ideology has spread to all corners of the world and there are presently over 2.5 million Rotarians.
Over 42 old people were fed and they were also given gifts. The Rotarians served the sumptuous meal that consisted of Jollof rice, Barracuda and meat stew, Vegetables including plantains and Charcoal Grilled Chicken.
The feeding exercise was accompanied by donation of gifts which included mentholatum, toothpaste, laundry and bath soaps, plates, Vaseline, rice garri, sugar, drinking cups, buckets and rubber bowls.Speaking to this press shortly after the programme, Dr.Arthur Wright a past president of the club noted that the feeding exercise is part of the club’s annual activities as that is what their motto stands for; ‘SERVICE ABOVE SELF’
