Startling revelations have been made concerning Shooting Stars’ trip to Malaysia to participate in the U-20 Youth Championships.
According to what was revealed, the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) failed to inform the Sports Council about the trip; and that when the Director of Sports, Bai Kabia drew their attention to this, SLFA only informed the Council about the trip on the eve of their departure.
Several Officials, especially in Nahim Kadi’s camp had been fighting tooth and nail to be part of the trip simply because of the huge financial implications.
According to reliable sources, the Sierra Leone Team would receive ten thousand dollars for any match played in the group. The Team is expected to play three matches in the group and as such they would receive 30 thousand dollars. If the team proceeds to the semi final stages they would also receive another quantum of cash.
It was also revealed that the four people who were unable to make the trip to Malaysia should also receive about two thousand dollars each from the money collected during the competition. It is now crystal clear that the trip is not beneficial to the country or the players but to the Officials who accompanied the team to Malaysia.
