The President of the Amputee Football Federation of Africa (AFFA) Liberian-born Rev Robert Karloh has disclosed to the press that he is in Sierra Leone to raise awareness on Amputee Football in Africa.
He mentioned that one of the objectives of AFFA is to raise the profile of amputee football in most part of the Continent, especially in areas affected by war; by bringing out the ability in disabilities.
He encouraged all the branches of AFFA to develop their own programs to help build the capacity of the amputees.
He mentioned that Sierra Leone Amputee Officials were very instrumental in the formation of the Amputee Football in Liberia, as Sierra Leone was one of the founders of the Amputee Football in Africa.
Hence the Sierra Leone Amputee Football Club was given the chance to host the first Amputee African Nations Cup.
Rev Karloh called on the Government of Sierra Leone to come on board to assist the Sierra Leone Amputee Team which has taken amputee football to the highest level.
In another development, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has also donated a bus to the Single Leg Amputee Team of Sierra Leone to facilitate their movement.
