Freetown, SIERRA LEONE Ibrahim Mann Turay, formerly associated with Cenegal FC and now based in Turkey, has embarked on a significant initiative to reunite Cenegal FC, marking a pivotal moment in the country’s sports landscape. This endeavour serves as a stepping stone toward reuniting former players of Cenegal FC.
The Cenegal Veterans Foundation has been established by former footballers who represented the club in the COFA league during the late 80s at Fire Force and the Parade field. This foundation aims to consolidate efforts and resources to support not only former players but also the upcoming generation of athletes.
In a concise statement, Peter S. Conteh, also known as Blacker, revealed that their overseas-based brothers encouraged the formation of the foundation. Their objective is to collectively aid the entire membership through the foundation, rather than assisting individuals on an individual basis.
Blacker emphasized their commitment to giving back, not only to their fellow colleagues but also to nurturing the education and football talents of the younger generation. He pointed out that a significant portion of their membership resides in the diaspora, and this reunion project represents a substantial effort to contribute to their membership and the development of young talent.
“We believe that the Cenegal Foundation is a substantial project focused on giving back to our members and supporting the youth. We aim to assist young individuals in the fields of education and football. Our vision extends to various areas of development,” he affirmed. BT/28/9/2023
