The Sierra Leone Reporters Union (SLRU) will this morning engage the Employment, Labour and Social Security Minister, Minkailu Mansaray for their bargaining certificate.
President of the reporters Union, Amara A. Samura said that the bargaining certificate will be used by the reporters to dialogue and negotiate their conditions of service with Media owners.
The President spoke that the present conditions under which the bulk of the reporters were working was deplorable and the only way to improve that was for them to first have the bargaining certificate.
He also spoke about a proposal that is already being put in place for the attention of SLAJ that will be forwarded to the various media owners to consider registering reporters with appointment letters, specific minimum wage for cub reporters, reporters, senior reporters and editors. They will also want managers to consider issuing appointment letters to their employees.
