A two day refresher training for Local Unit Commanders (LUC) and other ranks of the Sierra Leone Police force in the Eastern Region with the theme: Taking the SLP to a higher level what will be your own contribution? The training has taken place at the National Pastoral Canter along Dama road in Kenema city.
The workshop is being funded by Justice Sector Development Project (JSDP) jointly implemented by corporate services and operations policing planning department of the Sierra Leone Police.
Earlier in the opening ceremony the Director of corporate services in the SLP Thomas M. Lahai welcomed participants and appealed to them to take the workshop seriously as learning is a continuous process.
He appealed to them to disseminate to the lowest personnel in their division whatever knowledge they will gain from the workshop.
He said the objectives of the workshop is about personnel development and management with the aim of improving on their skills for better service delivery in their communities such as in the area of community policing , detecting and preventing of crime and also making all personnel professional in terms of the job.
In his contribution Superintendent S.E.Logan said the SLP wants to ensure that every personnel live up to the expectation of the local and international communities by maintaining their work and improving on it.
He said presentation will be done on operations, conduct in the SLP, command and control structure, human rights and lessons learnt during the 2007 elections and prepare ourselves for the 2012 elections.
He appealed to all and sundry in the SLP to relate well with the public that will fit into the general policing services thereby making Sierra Leone a better place for all. Inspection and evaluation must be part of the entire system without the police headquarter intervention.
The workshop was also facilitated by ASP F.I.B. Swaray, Inspector D.B.M.Lansana, and CSP Mustapha Kamara.
