The centre referee who officiated the match between Central Parade and Bo Rangers at the National Stadium, Samuel Sesay, reportedly deprived Central Parade from clinching this year’s trophy after disallowing a goal that should have given them victory.
The first assistant referee, who was in the right position, would have raised his flag if the ball was in an offside position. He never did that because he knew the player who scored the ball was not in an offside position. But referee Sesay went on to disallow the goal.
Some of the Central Parade officials, who spoke to Awoko Sports, blamed the referee and his assistants for the poor handling of the match.
They appealed to SLFA executive that if action was not taken against some of these referees there would be serious problems with football in the country.
During the match Bo Rangers went into the lead in the 44 minutes after Sillah scored after a defensive blunder which gave them the lead until the end of the first half.
Central Parade got their equalizer in the early stages of the second half. After the goal the match became very tough as both teams were looking for the winning goal.
About 10 minutes into the game a goal by Central Parade was disallowed, and after that goal both teams went into the offensive.
Central Parade are still maintaining their third position with 46 points.
