A company of Recce personnel of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces will soon depart the shores for Darfur, Sudan.
This was disclosed by the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff, General Robert Koroma when he received in audience Mrs. Annette Sciavanno, Strategies Analyst, Defence Intelligence Agency, from the Department of Defence based in Washington DC.
The purpose of her visit was to discuss areas of interest and plans for the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces peace keeping challenges coupled with Maritime security, drug trafficking and concern associated with HIV/AIDS in the military.
General Koroma informed her guest that Sierra Leone has participated in peace keeping in the Congo as well as Liberia, and further requested for assistance to enhance the capacity of the armed forces.
During her brief visit at the Defence Ministry she also had audience with Brigadier General K.S.M. Mondeh, the assistant Chief of Defence Staff Operation and Plan, and other military areas that of the Joint Medical Unit, Armed Forces Training Center and Head Joint Force.
