Residents at constituency 101 past Friday stormed the residence of Mr. Rashid Ahmed Bangura, in a bid to show their support for him to lead and represent them in parliament in the forth coming parliamentary election.
Hundreds of supporters turned out in their famous red colours to show their allegiance to the ruling All People’s Congress, whilst others decided to put on their plain clothes without any party identification.
In their response to the status of their present representative in parliament, the supporters stated that since they voted him in, he has never shown up again which led to their neglect in terms of development considering their neighboring constituency. They added that if only Mr. Rashid promises to be by their side at any time they will assure him of victory in the award of the party symbol.
Mr. Umaru Dumbuya, one of the aspirants who aspired for the Sierra Leone People’s Party flag bearer, stated that residents at constituency 101 should consider making a change in their own interest, though he is still a die-hard SLPP supporter, he is encouraging the people to support Mr. Rashid A. Bangura as he is a man of development and good initiatives, which he has demonstrated both at home and abroad.
In his statement, Mr. Rashid A. Bangura, disclosed to his people that as a local of that constituency, he understands their plight even if they do not explain it to them, but promised that if they support him and he gets the symbol he will continue the good work that he had started way back in the early 1990’s, and even if they fail to get it he will continue with his intention.
He maintained that the community needs a community health center, better drinking water among others. With the effort of the people and his own little resources, he said, they can achieve their goal in the not too distant future.
He encouraged the people to come out in their numbers and register as that is the only thing they can do to make them eligible to vote as a patriotic citizen, more especially the women as they are in the majority of the population.
